Transportation and Storage Requirements for
Potentially Hazardous Foods
AGENCIES: Food Safety and Inspection Service,
USDA; Food and Drug Administration,
DHHS.ACTION: Advance notice of proposed
rulemaking; request for comments.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SUMMARY: The Food Safety and Inspection
Service (FSIS) and the Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) are seeking
information and comments on
approaches the two Agencies might take to
foster food safety
improvements that may be needed in the
transportation and storage of
potentially hazardous foods. Potentially
hazardous foods, including
meat, poultry, eggs and egg products, fish,
seafood, and dairy
products, are those that are capable of
supporting the rapid
multiplication of microorganisms that cause
foodborne illness. This
notice seeks comments and information on
various issues and
alternatives for ensuring the safety of
potentially hazardous foods
during transportation and storage.
